• Health and Safety in the Workplace for Apprentices

    The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has developed this short awareness raising course on Health and Safety in the Workplace for Apprentices. The course is aimed at apprentices in the workplace. It provides a general overview of safety, health and welfare and the key areas that apply to apprentices at work.

    If you are an employer, manager or tutor the course is also suitable to deliver in a classroom setting or group using the Group manager facility.

    Course duration: 20 minutes

    Learning outcomes:

    At the end of this course, you should be able to:

    • understand core concepts related to health and safety in the workplace
    • understand the main duties and responsibilities of employers and employees in the workplace
    • understand the role of a safety officer and a safety representative
    • recognise the purpose of a safety statement in accident prevention and for the protection of vulnerable workers
    • identify what to do when a workplace accident occurs and the reporting requirements.
