Healthy, Safe and Productive Lives
The Health and Safety Authority had the honour to organise and present this conference during our Presidency. The conference was supported by the EU Progress Fund.
The management of Health and Safety at work is a key success measure in every member state of the EU. It tells us much about our values and principles within the overall framework of employment and inclusion. Our collective performance in this area merits continuous promotion and support. We hope that the 2007 to 2012 EU Strategy on Safety and Health will be replaced by a strong and sustainable strategy for the coming five years or so and thus provide a leadership framework from which member states can draft their own tailored strategies.
The theme chosen for our conference is topical and relevant - SMEs are the majority of our workplaces. The conference afforded the opportunity to discuss how small and micro businesses can protect their workers whilst remaining profitable and growing their business. These twin objectives complement each other. The conference debated issues of challenge for such businesses; how the legislation impacts them; the advantages that can be gained for these businesses when they successfully manage safety and health. The conference also heard of case studies of success from small companies and learned of the tools and supports that can make a difference and make the task simpler for businesses.
In this section of our website we display all the presentations and papers from the conference.
Again we thank all those that contributed - both as speakers, chairpersons and enthusiastic delegates. We look forward to working closely with you all when we apply the learning from our recent conference.
