Use of Pole Pruners/Saws in Proximity to Live Overhead Powerlines

electricity pylonThe HSA wish to draw the attention of employers/contractors/others at work to the issue of safety in the use of pole pruners/saws whilst tree cutting and pruning. In particular users need to be aware that such equipment may not be insulated and may be unsuitable for use in proximity to live overhead powerlines. Detailed risk assessments must be carried out by competent persons before any work is carried out near live over head powerlines taking into account the specific types of equipment to be used. The provisions of the risk assessments must be communicated to, and implemented by, all those at risk.
