Health and Safety Management
Docks have traditionally been seen as a high risk sector and workers face many hazards particularly during loading and unloading of cargoes and the movement and operation of vehicles.
The dynamic nature of port work and the unique circumstances and challenges that every port faces makes it essential to have a system in place to protect the health, safety and welfare of port workers and others who may be affected.
Due to the number of different companies involved in docks activities, the management of health and safety requires good cooperation and coordination between all employers and employees who operate within the port.
