The CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures fully entered into force on the 1st of June 2015 bringing us a step closer to the goal of having the same chemical hazards communicated in the same way around the world. Chemical Agents and Carcinogens Code of Practice 2021
The revised Code of Practice (Chemical Agents & Carcinogens) supports the transposition of EU Directive (EU) 2019/1831 which introduces new limit values for ten substances and these are included and highlighted in Schedule 1 of the CoP. Schedule 3 of the revised Code of Practice indicates proposed new Occupational Exposure Limit Value (OELV)s or changes to the existing OELV to be included in the next Code of Practice. Schedule 3 also highlights substances currently under review by the European Commission.

Chemical Distributors Duties REACH and CLP
Distributors of chemicals have duties under EU chemical legislation including the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) Regulation and the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. REACH controls the manufacture, import, supply and safe use of chemical substances in the EU while CLP requires companies to classify, label and package their hazardous chemicals correctly before placing them on the market.
