Notification of hazardous chemical mixtures to the National Poisons Information Centre in Ireland

Importers and formulators (and distributors, in certain situations) of hazardous chemical mixtures placed on the Irish market must notify certain information about these mixtures to the National Poisons Information Centre (NPIC). The information is prepared in a poison center notification format and submitted via the ECHA submission portal.  In accordance with the revised CLP Regulation (EU) 2024/2865, distributors are now also considered duty holders and must submit information on hazardous mixtures, where they distribute those mixtures in other Member States, or where they rebrand or relabel the mixtures, unless they can demonstrate a notification has already been submitted for that mixture in that Member State. All duty holders must inform NPIC of any changes that could be relevant for an emergency health response, for example, in case of updated contact details and changes in packaging type or product category.

Where the notified mixture requires a Safety Data Sheet, the supplier must include the NPIC emergency telephone number in Section 1.4 of the Safety Data Sheet. For more information on what needs to be notified and how, please refer to our Information Sheet.
