Dozer
What is it used for?
Dozer, or bulldozer, is a traditionally a wide base tractor unit on wide metal tracks used for pushing materials like soil, sand and rock.
Training
Solas SAFEPASS & CSCS for a tractor dozer to be on file for the operator.
Inspections
Weekly inspection to be carried out and documented on a GA2 for the machine by a competent person.
Certificate of thorough examination (GA1) to be on file for the item of machinery.
Paperwork
Written risk assessment to be on file and the operator to be signed onto it.
Additional Safety Features
Reversing & Auxiliary Aids to be in place i.e. mirrors, reversing camera, orange/green beacons, reversing siren (these will be in place after conducting the risk assessment).
Safety Points to Ponder
- Always wear a seatbelt whilst operating the dozer
- Ensure a safe route is identified
- Carry out weekly inspections as a minimum
- Report any known defects to site management
- Never carry passengers where there is no additional seats provided with safety belt
